Three Holiday shows

Christin Coy / Comment on this

This month I have been busy painting smaller paintings for two Holiday shows that I've been invited to participate in, "Hardly Strictly Mini" at the Bolinas Museum and "tiny" at the Studio Gallery in San Francisco. I'll also be showing paintings in "Beloved California II: Seventeen Painters with a Passion for Place" at the Holton Studio Gallery, Berkeley.

I really enjoy the challenge of fitting a large landscape scene onto a 5"x5" panel. It's always amazing to me how it still can convey the feeling of a place even though it's been reduced to a mini painting. I'm excited to be a part of the show at the Bolinas Museum in West Marin, 11/18 to 12/30-17. There will be small paintings by 70 local artists with 50% of the proceeds going to the museum as a fundraiser. If you've never visited the beautiful little museum on Wharf Road in Bolinas, this would be a great time to come by and see the three galleries plus a history room and a permanent collection gallery, as well. Below are the three Bolinas Lagoon paintings that I will be showing.

The "tiny" show at the Studio Gallery, 11/10 to 12/23-17,  will be showing art that is all under 7"x7" in an array of subject matter. The gallery walls will be filled with small treasures at reasonable prices. If you're in the City, make sure to stop by this great gallery between Van Ness and Polk St., at 1641 Pacific Ave. This is one of the minis, Bay Sail, 6x6",  that I will be showing there.

On November 4th there will be an art reception at the beautiful Holton Studio Gallery, 2100 Fifth St. in Berkeley. Tim Holton creates amazing handcrafted oak frames which will be gracing all the paintings in this show featuring the 17 gallery artists. I will be showing several paintings in this annual group show. Please visit their website to view some of the art that will be a part of this exhibit. holtonframes.com
