MARINSCAPES ART SHOW AND SALE-BENEFIT FOR BUCKELEW PROGRAMS
I am honored to be this year's Feature Artist for the MarinScape Art Show held at the Escalle Winery in Larkspur, California, benefitting Buckelew Programs of San Rafael. My feature painting, "Peaceful Afternoon - Bolinas Ridge and Lagoon", 30"x48", oil/canvas was inspired by the beauty of West Marin. I feel very fortunate to know Dr.Mary Griffin who was the single person that took action in the 70's to make sure this part of Marin was saved as open space for all to enjoy. At that time it was proposed that the Bolinas Ridge was to have a wide highway crossing it and the lagoon to be built up with hundreds of homes, basically destroying the environment of this area. The halting of this development by Marty proves how one person can truly make a difference in saving our environment. Marty will be honored at the MarinScapes Gala event on June 23rd at Escalle.
Buckelew Programs' mission is to enhance the quality of life of individuals and families in our community by providing mental, emotional, behavioral health and addiction services that promote recovery, resilience and hope. I feel that nature left untouched and art depicting nature have great healing qualities to everyone, and it seems only natural that all these elements come together to improve our mental health and well being. I have been a participating artist in MarinScapes for the past 22 years and it gives me a great sense of joy to be able to share the beauty of Marin while at the same time help create awareness and funding for this worthwhile cause.
I hope that you will come to this year's MarinScapes Art show and see all the wonderful and inspiring art created by over 30 local Marin County artists. You may find a painting that really speaks to you, and also will give you great joy in your home for years to come, while at the same time you'll know that youhave helped Buckelew continue their mission. Please visit Buckelew.org for more information and show schedule.
Cheers,
Christin
